Goodbye free plan: hello free trial

When I launched fitIQ back in March, I wanted an accessible free plan to complement Pro membership: the site should be usable for free, but so much better with Pro that it’s a no-brainer to upgrade. However, like so many who have gone before me I’ve come to realise that a free plan is not sustainable, so effective 12th December 2023 the free plan—with its restrictions on data syncing and data analysis—no longer exists. Here’s what it means for existing members who registered before 12th December.

Existing free users

As a thank you for being an early adopter of fitIQ, you have been given an extended thirty day free trial of the full Pro experience, starting 12th December. This is ten times longer than the free trial offered to new users. Hopefully you’ll see just how much better Pro is than the old, restricted free version of fitIQ, and hopefully you’ll choose to upgrade to Pro. If not, your account will be frozen after the trial expires: you can still navigate the site and see your data, but you can’t interact with it and you can’t sync any new data from WHOOP.

I had wanted to give existing free users the choice between staying on the old, restricted free plan or converting to a Pro trial. Unfortunately, doing so would have required a huge amount of work to support a non-paying user base: I simply do not have the time and resources to support both types of free experience for existing users. I know this isn’t ideal and it’s not what you signed up for, but I hope you understand.

Existing Pro users

There is no change to your membership. However, if you choose to cancel, or your membership is cancelled due to non-payment, you will no longer drop back to a limited free version of fitIQ: your account will be frozen as described above. Thank you for your continued support!
